This 6-page paper, subtitled "Transition Metal Production by DC Plasma Discharge Electrolysis Using Carbon Electrodes in a Non-Metallic Cell," was published in Issue 23 (1999).

Abstract: Described are experiments (simple, but not entirely without hazard) which appear to produce transition metals from lighter elements. The reactions are thought to occur in plasma discharges generated within, and contained by, hot aqueous alkali-metal ionic solutions. These experiments are derived from the recent tungsten-cathode work of Mizuno and Ohmori.
